ITBP Moves 33 Outposts Closer to LAC to Enhance Border Security

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has recently moved 33 outposts closer to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as part of a strategic initiative known as "forwardisation." This decision involves shifting posts that were previously situated 15-40 km from the border to locations much nearer to the LAC. The ITBP, with a strength of 96,222 personnel, is responsible for guarding the Indo-China border, a duty it shares with the Indian Army.

The primary reasons behind this move include enhancing border security, improving surveillance and intelligence gathering capabilities, and countering potential threats more effectively. By positioning outposts closer to the LAC, the ITBP aims to bolster its presence in strategically significant areas, thereby deterring any unauthorized activities or incursions by adversaries.

Additionally, the ITBP has deployed four new battalions in Arunachal Pradesh, adding over 5,300 personnel to the region. This deployment further strengthens the ITBP's operational capacity along the India-China border. The ITBP's specialized units, trained in mountain rescue, search and rescue operations, medical assistance, and disaster response, are also critical in ensuring comprehensive border security and rapid response to emergencies.
