Jimmy Carter's coffin has been transferred to Washington, D.C., where he will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol. The transfer process began with a dramatic farewell in Georgia, where eight military pallbearers carried his casket, and cannons fired on the tarmac nearby. The hearse then traveled to Washington, stopping at the U.S. Navy Memorial, where the remains were transferred to a horse-drawn caisson.
