The first wave of threats occurred on Monday, December 9, when over 44 schools were targeted. These threats were followed by another wave on Friday, December 13, affecting at least 30 schools. The situation escalated further when eight more schools received similar threats the next day, December 14. The emails, sent from an address named "[email protected]" and attributed to an individual named Barry Allah, contained alarming language threatening the schools with destruction on days when students were not present. The police and other authorities have responded by conducting thorough searches and evacuating the schools, but no actual explosive devices have been found. The investigation revealed that the emails originated from outside the country, complicating the situation further. The repeated threats have led to calls from educators and parents for stricter safety protocols and better emergency response plans. The Delhi High Court has directed the government and Delhi Police to develop a comprehensive action plan, including a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for handling such threats, with an eight-week deadline for implementation. The psychological impact on students is also a significant concern. Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has highlighted the potential disruption to the education and well-being of children if these incidents continue. In response to the ongoing threats, the Delhi government is working on enhancing safety measures, including the implementation of Safe School Zones to improve the infrastructure around schools and ensure the safety of commuting students.
