Understanding the Propagation of Electromagnetic Waves
Electromagnetic waves propagate through space by oscillating electric and magnetic fields, traveling at the speed of light, and encompassing a wide spectrum of frequencies.
The electromagnetic spectrum encompasses a wide range of frequencies and wavelengths, each corresponding to different types of electromagnetic waves. At the low-frequency end, we have radio waves, which are used for communication and broadcasting. As we move up the spectrum, we encounter microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, and finally, gamma rays. Each type of wave has unique properties and applications, from medical imaging to wireless communication.
