Stewart Rhodes and Oath Keepers No Longer Barred from U.S. Capitol
As of January 2025, the legal status regarding Stewart Rhodes's access to the United States Capitol has changed. Initially, a federal judge had barred Rhodes, the founder of the far-right Oath Keepers group, from entering Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Capitol without the court's approval. This order was issued in response to President Trump's mass clemency, which commuted Rhodes's 18-year prison sentence and other restrictions related to his conviction for seditious conspiracy in connection with the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
