South Korea has reported that more than 1,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded in Russia's war against Ukraine. This figure is supported by multiple sources, including South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff and its intelligence agency. The casualties are a result of North Korean troops fighting alongside Russian forces, with significant losses occurring in the Kursk region since August 2024.The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) have also confirmed significant North Korean casualties, claiming to have inflicted more than 100 casualties among North Korean forces over three days of operations. This includes 77 North Koreans killed and 40 wounded in recent fighting. Ukrainian military sources have reported that North Korean troops have been used in assaults on Ukrainian positions, leading to substantial losses.
