Saif Ali Khan was attacked by a knife-wielding intruder at his residence in Bandra on the night of January 16, 2025. The incident occurred when Saif and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, were asleep in their bedroom. They were awakened by the screams of their youngest son Jehangir Ali Khan's caretaker, Eliama Philip. Saif rushed to Jehangir's room where he found the intruder preparing to attack his son and the caretaker. A struggle ensued, during which Saif was stabbed multiple times in the back, neck, and hand. Despite his injuries, Saif managed to push the intruder away, lock him in Jehangir's room, and call for help. The intruder later escaped, but was arrested by the Mumbai Police based on CCTV footage.

Saif suffered several stab wounds, including injuries near his neck and spine. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries and was discharged on January 21, 2025. The quick recovery of Saif Ali Khan sparked criticism from online trolls, to which his sister Saba Pataudi responded by defending him and providing explanations for his rapid recovery.
