The Supreme Court has recently questioned the commitment of the Punjab government to save the life of fasting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike since November 26, is demanding a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) for crops, among other demands. His health has significantly deteriorated, prompting several Punjab ministers to urge him to seek medical help and criticize the central government for its lack of action.

The situation has escalated with the Supreme Court seeking a compliance report from the Punjab government regarding Dallewal's health and safety. This move by the apex court underscores the seriousness of the issue and the need for immediate action to address Dallewal's deteriorating health.

In response to the court's inquiry, the Punjab government has been actively engaging with Dallewal and other farmer leaders. Recently, a high-level delegation of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) met with Dallewal and assured him of their support. Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan also visited Dallewal at the Khanauri border and expressed deep concern over his deteriorating health. Sandhwan urged the Prime Minister to listen to the farmers' demands, emphasizing the significant contributions of farmers to the nation's welfare.

The Punjab government has been making continuous efforts to engage with the central government on this matter. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema and Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar recently met with central government officials to push for solutions to the farmers' demands.
