The Telangana High Court has extended interim relief to KT Rama Rao (KTR), the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader, from arrest in the Formula-E race case until December 31, 2024. This decision was made during the hearing of a petition filed by KTR seeking to quash the First Information Report (FIR) registered against him by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The FIR alleges that KTR, along with other officials, made payments, some in foreign currency, for organizing the Formula-E race in Hyderabad without proper approvals.

The court's decision includes directions for KTR to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and has scheduled further hearings for December 31, 2024. The government has been directed to file its counter to KTR's petition at this hearing.

Earlier, the court had rejected a plea to quash the FIR, maintaining that the investigation into the alleged financial irregularities should proceed. The case revolves around the conduct of the Formula-E race in Hyderabad and the purported unauthorized payments made for its organization.
