US Government to Offer Minimum Acreage for Alaska Oil and Gas Auction in 2025
Preview
The US government is offering the minimum acreage required for the upcoming oil and gas auction in Alaska. Specifically, the Department of the Interior has determined that the minimum 400,000 acres will be made available for the lease sale in the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). This is mandated by the 2017 Tax Act, which requires the federal government to hold two lease sales in the coastal plain of the refuge. The first lease sale was held in 2021, and the second sale is scheduled for January 9, 2025. This lease sale will be conducted through a sealed bid process.
